Expert Reply:
If your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD has the factory installed hitch and a 7-Way connector, then all of the wires for the brake controller have been run. The factory brake controller port is located in the black box underneath the dash on the drivers side, to the left of the brake pedal. Usually a brake control adapter will be included in the junction box.
If an adapter is not in the junction box you can use the Draw-Tite Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter, part # 3015-S, for Draw-Tite brake controllers or the Tekonsha Wire Replacement, part # 3015-P, for Tekonsha brake controllers.
If your Silverado does not have a factory trailer connector you will need the Pollak Twist-in, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector, part # PK11916. This will connect to the OEM socket on your truck.
You will also want to check under the hood of your vehicle at the accessory fuse block to make sure that there is a blue and red wire connected to the power posts closest to the engine and that the fuses are installed in the fuse block closest to the power posts.
I am including a link to a FAQ page that will describe installing a brake controller in your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.
